“You cannot build a business off of the ‘friends and family discount.’ You want customers who are going to pay you full price. You want to make sure that you are not talking to people who are gonna try to live their best life at half price!”
“No one wants to feel like they are part of your homework. They want to feel like you are asking them for a specific insight that they have and you need. You want to make someone feel like you are asking them for advice, not like they are part of a random focus group.”
“People get confused in thinking that price is the most common reason why people buy something. It can definitely be a motivator. BUT in reality, it’s usually one of the other six reasons why someone will buy (productivity, simplicity, convenience, minimized risk, fun & image, social impact), and what we have found is that if it really hits the notes people want, price will be a secondary consideration.”
